Whatever you are, be an optimist!

We’ve all heard the saying “we become what we think about”. We also know that what we focus on expand, and yet many people have a very pessimistic outlook on life. It is true that negative thoughts make they way into our minds from time to time. However we have no business inviting them let alone making them comfortable there. Being a pessimist will keep us in a constant state of fear. We are afraid that what we truly want will not happen. However by thinking about that over and over again it we will become our reality; indeed, the law of attraction is here to make sure of that.

How we talk to ourselves determines whether we are a pessimist or an optimist. When we have positive conversations with ourselves we tend to expect good things to happen to us. We tend not to worry because we know things will turn out fine and they usually will. We see more of what we anticipate. Optimists are happier people and accomplish more in life. The state of mind of an optimist is more conducive to success. On the other hand, the pessimist expect the worst and blame themselves for whatever goes

Motivation Wednesday # 14: From chess to success

There are lot good people out there whose sole purpose in life is to make the world a better place. I subscribed to that cause a very long time ago. I spent most of my waking time, reading about and researching people like that. Recent I virtually “met” a gentle named Orrion Hudson, who in my opinion, is doing a tremendous job, bringing his bricks for the construction of this edifice called the world.

According to the website besomeone.org, “Orrin Hudson was watching the news one night in 2000 when he saw a story about seven employees shot, execution style—for $2,000 in the cash register. That’s when he realized evil prevails when good people do nothing. He sold his business and founded Be Someone to teach something positive to inner city kids: the focus, discipline and patience required by the game of chess.”

Mr. Hudson is changing young people’s lives “one move at time”. Like this master motivational speaker, I truly believe that our success in life should not be measured by how much money we have at the bank, or how many cars or houses we own. But rather, by how many lives we change for the better by lifting people up when they are down, or just believing in them until they can believe in themselves. Our success in this life should be ultimately evaluated by whether we left this world better than we found it.

Today’s Wednesday Motivation, obviously, is from Mr. Orrion Hudson of Besomeone.org. If you have kids in your family, you do not want to miss this video. I found it very inspiring and was very touched by it. Watch out for the definition of K.A.S.H

Motivation Wednesday # 13: People are like potatoes

As human beings we are bound to go thru hardships from time to time. Sometimes we lose hope, sometimes we have to battle desperation just to stay sane. It is part of the process of living. It only becomes dangerous when you give in. No matter what happens to you, no matter how you feel, you need to keep moving forward. That’s the surest way to get out of any situation. But how do you do that? You can start by looking for the good everywhere and in every situation. Have a positive attitude and become a possibility thinker.

According to Dr. Robert Schuller, “the possibility thinking path” has never let anyone down, you may quit the path, but the path keeps right on going on to happiness, health and prosperity. Always remember that when someone wants something bad enough, they will find a way, when they don’t, they will make an excuse.

Today’s Motivation Wednesday is from Dr. Schuller:

People are like potatoes. After potatoes have been harvested, they have to be spread out and sorted in order to get maximum market dollar. They are divided according to size: big, medium, small. It is only after potatoes have been sorted and bagged that they are loaded onto trucks. This is the method all Idaho farmers use – all but one.

One farmer never bothered to sort the sort the potatoes at all. Yet he seemed to be making the most money. A puzzled neighbor finally asked him, “What is your secret?” He said, “It’s simple. I just load up the wagon with potatoes and take the roughest road to town. During the eight-mile trip, the little potatoes always fall to the bottom. The medium potatoes land in the middle, while the big potatoes rise to the top.” That’s not only true of potatoes. It is the law of life. Big potatoes rise to the top on rough roads, and tough people rise to the top in rough times. Tough Times never last, but tough people do.

Wednesday Motivation # 11

You are unique and this is your life!

There is no one like you and there will never be. By the same token, everyone else is, so there is no use trying to be someone else because you will never succeed in that. People are entitled to their opinions, just don’t let them to draw out your inner voice. This is your life. Live it today with no regrets. Don’t put it on hold, because tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Take care of yourself, for yourself and the ones you care about. That’s the best gift you can give them.

Don’t regret the things you did not do yesterday. That will only take you off course for the things you should be doing today! The past is spilled milk, this… is your life. Don’t destroy it living someone else’s. Imitation is Suicide said Emerson. This is your life, it is yours to live by you and only you.  I came across the following advices about life and wanted to share them with you

Question: In your opinion what is the best way to live a life of no regrets? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

Wednesday Motivation # 10

Are you using your imagination enough? If you don’t you are missing out on a lot! Imagination is the most important tool you possess for building your future. Being “realistic” will only lead to a life of “average”. The people who will change the world for the better are the ones who are crazy enough to believe they can. Always remember that a life of reality has boundaries but the life of imagination is limitless. Walt Disney used to say “if you can dream it, you can do it” and I believe it is true, the more you can imaging the life of your dreams, the better chances you have in accomplishing it.

Follow these simple rules in life: Imagine it, Go for it, ask for it, Keep going until you get it! Today’s Wednesday Motivation if from Nora Roberts.

Question: Do you agree with Einstein that Imagination is better that knowledge? If yes why? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

Challenging life: An essay by Dr. Napoleon Hill

I read my first personal development book some 22 years ago and  was ever since hooked. Thru the years I had the honor and the privilege to learn from many teachers, one of those teachers is Dr. Napoleon Hill whose whose writings I can never get enough of. I just stumbled onto one of his beautiful essay on life and wanted to share with you here today.

“Life, you can’t subdue me because I refuse to take your discipline too seriously. When you try to hurt me, I laugh — and the laughter knows no pain. I appreciate your joys wherever I find them; your sorrows neither frighten nor discourage me, for there is laughter in my soul.

“Temporary defeat does not make me sad. I simply set music to the words of defeat and turn it into a song. Your tears are not for me, for I like laughter much better, and because I like it, I use it as a substitute for grief and sorrow and pain and disappointment.

“Life, you are a fickle trickster — don’t deny it. You slipped the emotion of love into my heart so that you might use it as a thorn with which to prick my soul — but I learned to dodge your trap with laughter. You tried to lure me with the desire for gold, but I have fooled you by following the trail which leads to knowledge instead. You induced me to build beautiful friendships — then converted my friends to enemies

Wednesday Motivation # 9

In my last post on Kindness, I talked about the golden rule. I truly believe that if we take the time to understand and to apply it in every aspect of our lives, we will live fearlessly, happily, and enjoy a lot of success. Simply explained, the Golden rule is the ethic of reciprocity and it is found in many religious writings in the following terms:

  • Islam – Not one of you is a believer until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.
  • Christianity – Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them
  • Judaism – You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
  • Hinduism – One should not behave towards others in a way which is disagreeable to oneself. This is the essence of morality. All other activities are due to selfish desire.

Zig Ziglar summed it up in the following quotation which is today’s Wednesday Motivation.

Question: Do you believe that applying the Golden Rule would make the world a better place? You can leave a comment by clicking here.

Why you can not afford not to be kind

In his book The power of Intention Dr. Wayne Dyer tells a story where her daughter, Amber, was recipient of one small act of Kindness, which ended up going a long way. On her way to her University, she always passes thru a toll road. One day as she was coming thru, she reached out for her purse to pay the toll, but the toll both attendant told her not to worry about it because the person in front of her had already paid for her toll. Surprised, she insisted, “but I am traveling alone”. Yes I understand said the toll both attendant, however the the gentleman instructed to tell the next person to come to have a great day, the toll has already been paid. The young lady thanked the attendant and drove off beaming with joy. She could not wait to share her blessing with the first person she meets.

That small gesture of kindness started a chain reaction. Her recipient shared it with some friends at the University and many of them started doing the same thing, thus making the day for a lot of people. Amber decided to pay it forward one day while she was at the grocery store. Behind her was a lady with a toddler who was very antsy, noticing the uneasy situation, Amber decided to let the woman check out before her. The lady thanked her

Motivation Wednesday # 7

Are you blocking the channel of your good? Many people are under the impression that giving will deprive them and enrich the recipient. Others think that they just do not have anything to give, specially when they are broke. However the truth is quite the opposite. Giving will help us get more, as a matter of fact, we can not get until we give and we do always have something to give. We can always give a smile, comforting words or a helping hand to name a few. Today I would to share with you some fundamental truths about giving from Catherine Ponder. If you are not familiar with her, I would recommend you pick and read her book “The Secret of Unlimited Prosperity“. In that book she writes:

By the act of giving, you open the way for the things within your reach to appear quickly. These things have been wanting to come to you all the time, but were blocked by your lack of giving, because there was no free channel through which they could appear. Your giving opens and frees the channel. Always when there seems to be delay, confusion, or a block between you and your good, that block lies within you, and not in some outside circumstance or personality. When you give under divine guidance, you dissolve the block and open a channel for your good. Then nothing can stop its manifestation in your life! (Nothing has stopped its manifestation previously but your own lack of giving.)

Question: Can you think of any instance where you know you get what you wanted by giving something first? You can leave a comment by clicking here.
